Magnetic stripe cards
Magnetic stripe cards are easy to use, cost effective and can be used for a number of applications. Choosing the right product and magnetic flux density is important when using magnetic stripe cards. Depending on what the card is going to be used for, customers have the choice of either HiCo or LoCo.
HiCo (High Coercivity, 2700 Oersted or 4000 Oersted) magnetic stripe cards offer a sturdier build and are resilient against external magnetic fields. Magnetic heads are needed to enable data to be written onto the stripe and deleting the information stored on the card is almost impossible.
LoCo (Low Coercivity, 300 Oersted) magnetic stripes have a lower magnetic flux density compared to HiCo magnetic stripes. This means that the data stored on the strips is vulnerable against external magnetic fields and that the data can be accidentally deleted.
